Safety
In order to be able to update the contra indications and microbiological (viral and bacterial) test regime, the Board of BIS has established an International Safety Committee. The International Safety Committee is composed of leading scientific experts in this field.
At frequent intervals each year, this Committee advises the BIS Board with respect to improvements and adaptation of the donor criteria as well as about the laboratory test regime for tissue donors. Implementation of these and other changes in the organisation are subject to innovation procedures that are part of an ISO 9001:2008 certified quality system.
This quality system includes operational as well as strategic management aspects.
The quality system is based on the principles of the "learning" and "adaptive" organisation. This means that the organisation is structured in such a way that it can always adapt itself as a result of new insights or developments in medicine, in the processes of the organisation itself and in the society at large.
